TETC / GIT Toronto Island Workshop – September 7th, 2021
In collaboration with GIT (Goethe Institut Toronto), TETC (Toronto Experimental Translation Collective) held a one-day translation workshop on September 7th, 2021. Guided by members of TETC, participants spent the first part of the morning discussing texts and materials related to (experimental) translation. This was followed by two workshops, each one led by different members of TETC. These workshops engaged with one or several of Paul Celan’s early poems as well as with the landscapes and soundscapes of Toronto Island. Participants collaborated and create hybrid experimental translations incorporating a variety of media.
A publication of the outcomes is forthcoming. See the recording of TETC's discussion with translator and scholar Susan Bernofsky here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSNmhiBHNwE
